This is an informative, interactive and engaging workshop, designed for business owners, managers and supervisors, who understand the importance of putting customer service at the heart of their business to create competitive advantage and business growth.
As well as learning about the key principles that underpin excellent customer service, you will also learn about the internal and external drivers of change, challenges of creating and fostering the desired culture, and tools and techniques for implementing, monitoring and measuring success.
Topics will include:
  1. Identifying what Excellent Customer Service looks like
  2. Exploring individual and organizational factors that impacts on the creation of an Excellent Customer Service Culture
  3. Identifying and implementing key actions to support the development of an Excellent Customer Service Culture
  4. Managing the process of change
  5. Tools and techniques for measuring success
This is the second in a series of seven management and leadership development units to be offered by the SLHTA. Alongside the individual certificates for each unit, participants who choose to go on and complete six of these seven units are awarded the Institute of Hospitality endorsed Certificate in Management and Leadership.
These units are designed to fill the gaps in knowledge, skills and abilities that research has identified are often missing but are essential for both new and existing Caribbean supervisors and managers. These workshops assist managers and supervisors in making a real contribution to their business and helps advance their career prospects in the hospitality industry.
The SLHTA has partnered with Springboard Caribbean and the Institute of Hospitality to provide the Certificate in Management and Leadership for its members. Each unit in this program is individually certificated, can stand on its own, and has been specifically contextualized for the Caribbean Hospitality industry. Units are delivered in a relevant and practical way, ensuring participants can immediately apply what they have learned back in the workplace.
Why Springboard?
Springboard Caribbean is the strategic educational partner for the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, and an approved centre for VTCT and Royal Society for Public Health qualifications. Our training programs are endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality, and units from this leadership development program have been delivered at CHTA CHIEF events, receiving positive reviews across the board.
We hope you take this opportunity to build the skills, knowledge and overall performance of your Supervisors and Managers to the benefit of your organization and their careers.

Congratulations to Kurt Augustin, of Saint Lucia!
Kurt earned his  CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner  (CASP) certification this month, adding it to his CompTIA A+. This is not an easy certification and Kurt made the unorthodox move of jumping from CompTIA A+ to CASP. Well done, Kurt!!!
CASP certifies critical thinking and judgment across a broad spectrum of security disciplines and requires candidates to implement clear solutions in complex environments. This is a key skillset required by the U.S. Navy.
Kurt supports the infrastructure at the National Skills Development Centre and he is a lecturer in their CompTIA training program… READ MORE
A Sea of Plastic – Sandals Foundation Takes on Plastic Pollution with Reusable Bottles
With every passing year, the detrimental effects of plastic waste on our environment become even more glaring. With roughly 300 million tons of plastic being produced globally each year, the Sandals Foundation has intensified its efforts to reduce plastic pollution in the Caribbean, this time targeting school children.
In observance of World Earth Day (Sunday April 22), the Sandals Foundation has started the distribution of 5000 reusable water bottles in schools across the Caribbean to reduce the use of disposable plastic bottles among school children. Executive Director of the Sandals Foundation, Heidi Clarke said the initiative is part of the larger focus of the foundation to engage and educate adults and children on the threats their activities and habits pose to the environment.
“What we are doing is more than just handing out brightly colored water bottles to children. It is about the education of the children to bring about a change in perspective and habits. If we can get our children to understand the dangers of plastic pollution, how their actions contribute to that and get them to view their habits differently, we would have made some progress in the fight against plastic pollution… READ MORE
